HUGO Award Winner Mike Resnick Joins Jim Baen's Universe
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWeb) December 30, 2006 -- One of the greatest names in contemporary Science Fiction is Mike Resnick. He says of himself, "I'm the author of 51 science fiction novels, 175 science fiction stories, 13 collections of science fiction stories, 2 science fiction screenplays and 3 non-fiction "how-to" books about science fiction."
"Although I've been the editor of 44 science fiction anthologies," I've never edited a science fiction and fantasy magazine," Resnick says. So I was delighted when Eric Flint asked me to join 'Jim Baen's Universe' as Executive Editor."
"Mike Resnick is the most award winning of all science fiction authors, a terrific student of the field and a great raconteur. I am very happy he's joined Jim Baen's Universe as Executive Editor. This is another indication that Jim Baen's Universe has become, in only four issues, the premier magazine of science fiction and fantasy. And if there are a lot more bad jokes in the upcoming issues--we're going to blame Mike."
Editor in Chief Eric Flint agrees, "Mike will bring very strong editorial skills to the magazine, as well as continuing to write potentially award-winning stories, like 'All the Things You Are' from Issue 3."
"I will be working closely with Eric and the Universe editorial staff to help make each issue of JBU better than the last," Resnick says.
According to "Locus" magazine, Resnick has won more awards for short fiction than any science fiction writer, living or dead. "When you add in novels, I am 4th on the all-time award list," Resnick points out.
"Jim Baen's Universe" Executive Editor Mike Resnick is:
Winner of 5 Hugos
Nominated for 28 Hugos (including 2 for Best Editor, the only freelance editor other than Robert Silverberg ever to be nominated, and the only one, including Silverberg, to be nominated more than once.)

"And, more important still, I'm lovable," Resnick cracked when asked about his award winning ways.
